Many entreprenuers start their business as a franchise and it is good idea because of the training, support, financing and name recognition to name a few. This is a good way to help a start up business with immediate cash flow; although, the benefits as a franchisee can be great as a start up, this is not as attractive to some business owners because you are not totally independent and there are rules of the franchisor that you have to conform to.
Research is key when considering a franchise opportunity, and there are some important questions you need to ask in order to make the right decision about the company you are interested in affliliating with.

Retirement Plans cont'd

Discussion in our previous post mentioned individuals age 55 and older and savings tips and strategy for that age group. The empty nesters in this age group have challenges to saving for retirement.
The urge to spend more after the children leave home is one of the challenges, Vacations, luxury items, renovating or redecorating the home are some of the ways money is used vs saving.
Should you splurge or invest more in the 401K or IRA? This is a very subjective question.
We have only One Life To Live!

Planning and saving for retirement is important at any age. The economy today has made a dramatic impact on plans for all because we are experiencing the effects of the downturn of the housing market and unemployment on a large scale.
Investing in a 401K or others means or retirement savings such as an IRA is very different for an individual 55 or older vs someone 25 or younger. The risk in investing is very different, therefore careful planning for someone 55 or older is necessary to help with actual daily living upon retirement.
Moving to a smaller home is an example of cutting living expenses, this is one way to add to savings toward retirement; if you live alone considering a roommate to help with the expenses is another possibility. Working part time after retirement or running a small business are both good options to help supplement social security payments.
The key is start wherever you are right now.

Continuing our discussion regarding starting a business, our November 2010 post relates to how one plans to start.
The key is, if you have the vision, go ahead and do it! But you must give your approach some in depth thought and research to continue and be successful.
A business plan is an essential tool, if it is just you as self employed, or you plan to have staff initially, a plan on how you run the business is necessary and should be in writing.

Considering investments as a small business is a good idea. Real estate investments continue to be among the best choices.
If you have a dream to invest in real estate you should pursue it.

1. Put your dream into the action mode, otherwise it cannot become a reality.

2.Put aside any reasons not to get started, they are only excuses. "Be" vs "Wannabe".

3. Educate yourself and then find a mentor.

Leasing Office Space

As a follow up on our post to starting a business, where you plan to operate is a major decision to be considered immediately in your business planning. As a homebased business, you may need to lease some space for outside use to meet clients away from home.
Leasing a space has a number of challenges and finding help with the negotiations should be considered if you don't have the expertise to do it yourself; sometimes if you have the expertise, having someone to help is a good idea also.
There are a number of expenses to be considered at start up along with the lease payments; ie, the build-out cost
if you need to alter the space to customize it for your particular business type and needs. If you change the existing structure inside or out and add to it, if you plan to remove whatever you used to make the change, you will more than likely have to bring the space back to what is was originally when you leave. Consider fixtures, if you are planning to remove anything that you want to take that is fixed in place it should be identified as a trade fixture to be able to carry it with you at the end of the lease agreement.

One of the driving forces in our economy is investments.
What you choose to invest in makes an impact on your wealth in the long term.
Real Estate investment has always been a good choice for the homeowners and investors. Our economy today and recent lending practices has significantly changed this dream for both.
Wondering... why the would be buyer, investor or homebuyer, is having a seeming difficult time in achieving their goals, with such a large resource of what they are seeking readily available.
There is a plentiful inventory of seller owned properties available now, and would be sellers eager to list property for sale if they could receive fair market value. The properties in foreclosure are huge in numbers, short sales are the growing trend and will add a significant amount to the inventory, also, the shadow inventory of foreclosed properties owned by the banks and lenders that are not listed number in the millions.
Wondering... if there was more movement in this area of investments, could our dull economic picture begin to brighten sooner?
